The principle

What industrial laser cleaning is
and how it works

In short: a dry, contactless process that removes contamination and leaves the base metal untouched. No solvents, no grit, no soaking, only fine dry dust caught in a filter.

The method is laser ablation. A pulsed fiber laser fires short, energy-rich pulses at the surface. Rust, oxide, paint, oil and other contamination absorb that light, heat past their ablation threshold within microseconds and leave the part as gas and fine particles. Clean metal reflects most of the same wavelength and stays cool, so the geometry, hardness and finish of the part do not change.

Because each contaminant has its own absorption, the operator tunes pulse energy, frequency and scan speed to the job. A light oxide film lifts in a single pass, while a thick rust scale or a multi-layer coating is taken down in stages. This level of control is what separates a laser cleaning service from blasting or chemical stripping, where the whole surface is attacked at once.

An extraction unit with a HEPA filter sits at the point of work and captures the dry debris before it can spread. There is no slurry, no spent abrasive and no chemical run-off to neutralise. What you are left with is the original surface, ready for inspection, welding, bonding or coating straight away.

Layer by layer

Three pulses, three states. The first clears surface oil and dust, the second works through oxide and rust. The third reaches bright metal and reflects, which is where the laser stops on its own.

Pulse 1 hits the oil and dust on top. Loose grease and machining residue absorb the light at once, heat past the ablation threshold and lift off as gas and fine particles. The metal underneath stays far cooler than your hand would feel.

Pulse 2 works through the oxide and rust. Each layer has its own absorption, so the operator can stop at a defined depth or continue with another pass down to bare metal.

Pulse 3 reaches the bright metal. Here the balance flips: clean steel reflects the wavelength, so the process self-limits and removal stops. The substrate keeps its geometry, and the surface is ready for the next step.

Mobile laser cleaning
on your site

Our units fit on a trailer or in a van. We come to the part, in your production hall, on the building site or outdoors, instead of moving heavy assemblies to a workshop.

Mobile laser cleaning makes sense whenever dismantling, transport or downtime would cost more than an on-site visit. We work directly on the part and set up within about half an hour. The pulsed fiber laser, the control unit and the extraction form one compact system that runs on standard site power.

Our service area covers the whole country, from Lake Constance to Valais, all 26 cantons. The usual lead time is a few working days from confirmation, with faster slots for urgent line stops. Depending on the power level we need either a 230 V or a 400 V connection on site, which we confirm with you before the visit.

Industrial parts cleaning

On components, assemblies, molds and tooling, the laser removes oil, carbon, oxide and old coatings without touching the base metal. Because the process is contactless, there is no media to lodge in threads, blind holes or fine geometry, and tight-tolerance parts keep their dimensions.

This suits maintenance and overhaul work where a part has to be cleaned in place, between production runs, or before it goes back into an assembly. We clean steel, stainless steel, aluminium and cast iron, from small precision parts up to large weldments and machine beds.

Surface preparation done right

Before bonding, sealing, coating or welding, the surface needs to be clean and active, not just visually clear. The laser creates a defined, repeatable surface by removing oxide, mill scale and release agents and exposing fresh metal, so the next process can grip properly.
